All data that you upload to our ownCloud is stored on systems within the university. Access is via the encrypted HTTPS protocol.
For performance reasons and also due to various other known issues, the data is not encrypted on the server.
The ownCloud does not serve as a backup, and we do not back up the data. Always make sure that your data is also stored somewhere outside of the ownCloud!
Owncloud is an open source product and is continuously being developed. This means that minor problems can occur from time to time. Known bugs are fixed, but unfortunately this sometimes leads to new ones. The ZID tries to help as much as possible, but ultimately we usually have to rely on the commitment of the developer community.
One known bug, for example, is that an object cannot be deleted. This happens occasionally with shared documents. In this case, please contact the ZID and we will delete the desired object from the server.
It is also possible that synchronisation with the server may fail when using the desktop client. This could be because the file name is too long or contains special characters that cannot be displayed. You can find information about this in the synchronisation log of the desktop client.
If you have any further questions, you can also refer to the ownCloud documentation, which can be found here:

If you encounter any other error messages, please feel free to contact us by email: owncloud(at)unileoben.ac.at.
