IT Security Incidents:
Report IT security incidents immediately via email to our IT security team.

Please include as much detail as possible in your report to enable a quick analysis and resolution:
Description of the incident (suspicious activity, data loss, phishing, etc.)

  • Affected systems or users
  • Time of the incident
  • Measures already taken

  • IT Strategy & Future Planning: Coordinating and supporting the development, refinement, and implementation of Montanuniversität’s IT strategy—to pave the way for digital transformation together.
  • Financial & Project Controlling: Budgetary planning and management of projects, teams, and departments to ensure resources are used in a targeted and responsible manner.
  • Project Coordination: Support and coordination of IT projects throughout their entire lifecycle – for transparent processes and successful outcomes.
  • IT Sourcing: Professional procurement of IT products and services, including quality assurance and sustainable supplier selection
Core tasks
  • ServiceDesk: Point of contact for users, endpoint support, ticket processing, and incident and request handling, including prioritization
  • Workplace Management & Central Procurement: Planning of client lifecycles, standardization, imaging/provisioning, and rollout, as well as device decommissioning
  • Software Management: Ensuring endpoint security, license management, packaging, distribution, patch management, and distribution of updates
  • Monitoring: Reviewing status updates, fault reports, tracking/reporting, as well as knowledge management and continual improvement

Core tasks
  • Network: Design, operation, and administration of the physical and virtual network infrastructure (LAN, Wi-Fi, Internet) at the Montanuniversität and its affiliated student housing facilities; monitoring (tracking network utilization and troubleshooting to ensure high availability); and documentation
  • Network Security: Design and operation of firewalls and IPS (Intrusion Prevention) systems; operation of VPN gateways for secure remote access
  • Communication: Cloud telephony, Webex meeting and video conferencing solutions
  • Media Technology: Design, operation, and administration of lecture hall and seminar room infrastructure; digital displays and door signs
Core tasks
  • As experts in core infrastructure, we keep the IT landscape running smoothly by managing servers, data storage, and reliable backup strategies.
  • We secure the digital workplace by administering email and web security as well as central directory services.
  • In doing so, we provide the essential foundation by delivering both a robust infrastructure for standard applications and specialized high-performance clusters for computationally intensive requirements.

  • CMS: Typo3 administration, website development, support for web editors
  • Email: Administration of the email server for staff
  • MUonline: Administration of the central campus management system MUonline, data analysis
  • Application Development: Development of interfaces, implementation of special requirements in MUL systems, development and support of workflow applications
  • Academic AI: Provision of Academic AI in collaboration with ACOMarket
  • Pure: Administration of the research and information system
  • (Later also Moodle: Administration of the teaching and learning platform)
Core tasks
  • SAP Operations Coordination: Working closely with the Federal Computing Center (BRZ), we ensure the availability and monitoring of SAP applications. Our responsibilities include incident and interface management, as well as supporting change requests, release upgrades, and customizations.
  • Role and Authorization Concepts: Support in the creation and implementation of role concepts for authorization management.
  • User Management and Support: Administration of user access and user support in the ERP, HANA, BW, and PMSAP areas.
  • SAP Projects and Digitalization: Planning, steering, and implementation of SAP projects and programs in collaboration with the relevant business departments.
  • SAP ESS/MSS: Monitoring and maintenance, analysis and troubleshooting, customization and enhancement.
  • Controlling and Auditing: Support for financial, project, and IT audits

Area IT-Security Management

Core tasks
  • ISMS Implementation and Operation: Introduction, implementation, and ongoing operation of an Information Security Management System (ISMS) in accordance with standards such as ISO 27001, as well as monitoring the effectiveness of security measures and their continuous improvement.
  • Risk Management: Conducting risk and vulnerability analyses, assessing threats, and developing appropriate countermeasures.
  • Incident Management: Establishing and monitoring a process for handling security incidents, including emergency plans and response strategies.
  • Awareness & Training: Raising employee awareness of IT security issues through training and awareness campaigns.
